This way you are fooling TTH believing that the device already has navcore 9.401 installed... 
If/when a new core will be released TTH will force again the update!
In my opinion is safer the following solution that will let the user remove the tick from the application update! 
That method works about the same (it's all about fooling TT HOME); if a newer version of TT is released, you need to update the application.ini file as well. So you have that problem with both methods . Maybe it's possible to just enter 99999 in the application.ini and application.tlv file so you're good for some time . I haven't tried that yet though. Anyway, I think it's best to let the users decide which method they prefer :-).

Actually the very best solution would be that TomTom remove the update forcing!! 
...but I guess it's related to their privacy notifications/changes following the audit they had thus they cannot go back...
