The reference manual says "Tap this button to delete all your personal settings and restore the standard factory settings to your TomTom Start.
This is not a software update and will not affect the version of the software application installed on your Start.
Important: This feature deletes all your personal settings!
If you want to keep your personal information and settings, you should perform a full backup of your Start before you reset the device. You can then restore all your personal information and settings after you reset the device.
This includes items such as your Home and Favourite locations, your personal menu and your POI categories and POI locations."
BUT HOW DO YOU DO THE BACKUP?

If the Start 20 uses MyTomTom and not Home 2 (I think that is the case), then the manual is wrong. You can't do a full backup as the user has no access to the file system.
You can copy favourites to the computer as well as custom poi files that you might have initially uploaded to the device.

NO I cannot copy files to the computer as the device does NOT show as a drive on my computer (Win 7 Home Premium SP1). Nor is it in device manager as a removable drive. How therefore do I copy these files?

I have the same doubt. I would like to backup my data from my start 20, but do not find that option???
Can any one know how to? Or can TomTom Home be used with Start 20??
Thanks a lot for answers.
