Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

I've just emailed customer services about this and included a link to this thread.

I only joined the forum because this is the second time I've had an update partially disable my device and I'm a bit sick of it now considering the cost of the Live services.

I don't know if anyone has tried yet but when I dock my Go 740 with Tomtom Home (2.8.3.1343) on my Mac then operate the Go 740 through the computer using 'Operate my device' the Live services work perfectly on my computer screen, I can check traffic, weather and the rest!

However when I disconnect the Go 740 from the computer and then try and check any of the Live services on the Go 740 I get the sim 1008 error again.

Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

I got exactly the same thing with my Go540 Live wors when attached to a computer but not standalone.

I've rasied a call with the Customer Services team as well, no response as yet.

Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

I spoke to TT CS and told them that I had access to Traffic/Live services when using the emulator on the PC and they said that its a SIM/Software issue, the reason the unit works attached to a PC is because it isn't accessing the Live services using the SIM card its using the internet.

Why oh why don't TT test these updates properly before releasing them?

Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

Why dont TomTom have a two tiered release?

1) Announce in the forums that there is a new version that you can manually download from http://xxxx and manually put in directory %APPDATA%\Local\Tomtom\... and install manually at your own risk. Let the brave and foolhardy test it for a week or two - there are loads of us - some of us even have a clue and might be able to really help. Everyone else wont know.. or bother so there is no risk of collateral damge and very bad PR.

2) A couple of weeks later push it out through Home to everyone - with much greater confidence that it's not going to break my mums only chance of getting somewhere... on time and without getting lost, cost TomTom a lot of good will and generate a twitter storm of bad PR.

Seriously - open beta works for the Open source world, it works for lots of commercial entities too. Why is it not so obvious that TT do it?

Same error here "sim card 1008",  on a 940 after updating it last night.

Whilst using TT Home interface it reports its all connected and ok, but not when the unit is doing what is was designed for, standalone in a car.

Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

I installed 9.400 yesterday on my Go 550 Live, and so far it's working OK. No Sim Errors, and HD Traffic appears to be working OK (although I've only used it for one short commute so far).

[I've got other problems with my 550, but I've got a seperate Ticket raised about that - not related to the 9.400 navccore].

Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

It's the same old crap from tomtom , we had no complaints about 1008 code, they told me that on the last navcore update, I spent about an hour on the phone to tomtom cs last time and there is no way I'm doing that again ,to add insult to injury  they want you to ring a 0845 number  ,(i think they have had enough money out of us all) ,  I have put mine back to the original software it was shipped with.

Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

I updated my GO 949 Live last night and also have the repeat experience of the dreaded Error Code 1008. How on earth can a company of the status of TomTom repeat this disaster ? Are they unable to test their products except on the paying public ? Why pay for a service that is not delivered.
Is there any way to roll back to the earlier version ? I noticed that it was not possible to uncheck the update in TT Home – makes any future options difficult.
Please get it sorted (and quicker than last time)

Re: Navcore 9.40 Update

you can roll it back , but you cant update any services , not until they let you uncheck the software update on tomtom home. but like you say bantam (WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE THEY CANT DELIVER)
