Just tried to update my Go 520 as normal, there was a new UK map and an operating system for the device, plus the other small items which download. All seemed to go as normal. Disconnected the device on completion, restarted it, and it just loops through the startup screens, and will not run. Tried checking memory, tried removing the Mapsetting.cfg as per the Support page advice, and nothing works. My device just hangs in the start up screen. Cannot find an email address for Tomtom Support, and as my device is a midlife device, I wonder if there is no email support anymore ! My device is now useless, and will only function if I do a Backup Restore, which reinstated the old map etc. Then it does run. When I connect it to the PC again, it downloads the latest map and op system etc again, and the whole issues starts all over again. Not at all impressed, and if this is the best they can offer, I will not be buying another Tomtom, which till now had given exellent service !
Any clever folk out there with a solution ?? Need your help urgently !!

I am not clever, but if this works you will think I am clever. Many glitches that occur after updates can be cured by reconnecting to TTHome and going to "Operate my device" on the second page of the menu. Navigate to some point in your city, when complete tap Done, safely disconnect (Device/Disconnect Device). It may now work.
If not, I would go back to your old system and try to install only the updated app first. Then safely disconnect, shut down your device and reconnect. Now allow your map to load.
Keep us posted.

Tried all, and still nothing working.
Just managed to speak to Tomtom UK by phone - There is a tech glitch with the latest update. Problem theirs, not my device's !!
Check back Monday to see if a fix has been released. The Operating System version that I have had trouble with is Version 9400. Have restored my device to previous workable state from its backup, and shall await the "fixed" update to become available.
Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

Yep, I did the exact same thing and now have the exact same problem. What I would like to know is if TomTom knew about the glitch then why did they send me an email inviting me to download their updates? Surely that's wrong as now my 520 will not only NOT start, but after resetting it can't even access any maps!

please have a look if the today released update to Navcore 9.401 fixed that problem. Before starting with updating the application version please create a backup of your devices using Explorer/Finder.

if that version is available for you it should be offered automatically via the update my device option in TT Home. Which Navcore version do you have installed on your device?

I also have the dreaded "looping reboot" after the update on my 550.
I've deleted the application from the unit and the PC as instructed by tech support. I've run check disk and I've run "clear flash" I've held the start button down to reboot - nothing works.
I've tried running "operate my go" as suggested in a post above. Tom Tom Home stops working and crashes.
My unit runs fine if I restore to my back-up. (and "operate my go" works on restore) This makes me think there is nothing wrong with the unit but it's the update itself.

If you can get to your change preferences menu, go to the last page and you will find Version information. If you are connected to TTHome go to Help/System information.
On TTHome, with out connecting you can go to Manage my device to Remove items from computer, to Applications, click the plus next to those (there may be more than one) and click on More info . This will show your current and last application (separately). Do not click remove from computer.
