Just tried to update my son's TT Go Classic which was a "hand me down" from myself a few years ago when I upgraded to an XL, it says the Go is now at end of life and is no longer supported AT ALL by TomTom....not even by email, yes I know its old tech but has been working perfectly apart from the alternate route selection whilst on a mapped journey.
As far as I am concerned I am annoyed and perplexed that TT deem to just drop any kind of customer help when the product reaches a certain age, I can understand updates and software not being supported online, but not even email support?
Where is all the profit going....certainly not into customer service for sure.
I was recently considering upgrading all three TT we have (Go, XL, XL ) to one of the newer models, but now....forget it TomTom....I'll be off to Garmin very soon, this weekend in fact (I was updating for my son as he is off on a trip next week) so now it looks like he will be using a shiney new Garmin, and now also my wife and I will too!
If TT cannot be bothered to answer or even consider answering a technical query from a loyal customer, then up your TT, we are off................
Unbelievable!

What type of problem were you having? Perhaps someone on this forum could help. We are TomTom owners like you, and will help you if we can.

Hello Sailor.......oops, that sounded much worse than it was intended to be ![]()
Most kind of you to offer, I doubt it can be fixed without an update or reload of software, it will come up with an alternate route choice on first planning a route, but once the route is underway if requesting an alternate route on screen it will not respond and give a choice of routes ie, avoid motorways etc.
Best regards David

Are you saying that it you connect to TomTom Home that you can not update it; that it is not compatible with current versions of software and maps?

I have a very old tomtom One that is still working and getting updates via TT Home...?

Yes, I connect my TomTom Go Classic (as they call it now apparently) to the computer and TT Home opens and recognises the machine, it then says my Go needs updating and even shows me the updates, I then agree to update and it appears to download the update, then I get the message saying the Go is an "end of life" product and is not supported online anymore, the update is then aborted.
My Go was bought when TT just brought them out, no idea of the year exactly but it was bought at the Channel Tunnel duty free for around £300 as I recall......a fortune back then compared to what they are now, not that I am complaining about the machine itself as it has served well, I just am annoyed at TT just cutting off support dead.
Best regards David

Just to shove my own experience in here ~ I have a Go 300 which is about 6 or 7 years old now and it is still working via TT Home with updates etc .
I'm not in the technical sphere and if I want to know anything about Computers or Mobile Phones I ask my 10 year old Grandaughter .
I didnt realise that there was a cut off for devices over a certain age

@Cibo....thats good for you, maybe we can swop our devices over? ![]()
@Badger.....Yes exactly, I had no idea TT had decided there was a cut off date for support for older devices, they will not even entertain the notion of an email......and for a customer who has three devices in the family, well actually as from yesterday only two as the offending GO has now been replaced with a very nice new Garmin 5" device.
I have no problem with technical problems, I have always built and mantained my own computers over the years, but no support is no support and I think that is ![]()
Best regards David

@boxbrowne,
There may be only certain updates that are not available to your GO.
First make sure your TTHome is up to date (Help/Check for Update), then connect and deselect the application update. As far as I can tell, you should have version 7.903. Update to that version, then try for a map update etc. There may only one item that will not work; at any rate it's worth a try.
In the mean time I will see what else I can learn about this issue.
