Does "TomTom HOME" program work on the “GO 2535 M LIVE” unit?

Hello again,

I have installed two programs on my PC [My TomTom] and [TomTom HOME], one works and the other one does not.

The "My TomTom" program is able to find and detect my unit “GO 2535 M LIVE”.

However, The "TomTom HOME" program is NOT able to find or detect my unit “GO 2535 M LIVE”.

Could it be that one is compatible and the other is not?

That is correct.

MyTomtom is the only app designed to work with the GO 2535 M LIVE.

Re: Does "TomTom HOME" program work on the “GO 2535 M LIVE” unit?

The newer devices were being developed from scratch using a web based platform. Because the devices are using their own Lan network to connect to the computer, the contents cannot be accessed anymore directly. I believe the contents are also encrypted in a way that only the TomTom developers know how to access the devices to update and install additional content, because this is handled by the myTomTom application.

The devices are working in conjunction with the myTomTom application and the webupdate page. When for example going to the 'add community content' page in the myTomTom application menu, then this opens a 'upload webpage' on the device where its possible to upload personalized content. Almost everything is done on the 'web', either with the webupdate page or on the myTomTom device. The devices are using a static IP adress to connect to the computer. Its even possible without a internet connection to connect the device to the computer and install additional content.

TomTom decided to develop the myTomTom Support Application to manage and update the newest generation navigation devices because of the new web based platform. Currently the program doesn't has a fully user interface like TomTom Home, but its being under development, and TomTom releases once in a while a new update for the myTomTom program, as well meanwhile releasing the promised remaining functions when they are ready (Receiving Mapshare corrections, ability to install computer voices and remove preinstalled voices,..). I believe in time that eventually the myTomTom platform will take over from TomTom Home and will provide the next generation standard for all the newer navigation devices being released.

Re: Does "TomTom HOME" program work on the “GO 2535 M LIVE” unit?

I am confused about backing up my g02535WTE.

What I read about it is to use TomTom home for backing it up but then I have to use MyTomTom for everything else.

Can I install Tom Tom Home and my TOMTOM on the same computer?Hans.

Your unit must use MyTomTom, not Home 2. And you cannot backup the contents of your unit to the computer. You can save favourites to the computer, but not maps or application.

Re: Does "TomTom HOME" program work on the “GO 2535 M LIVE” unit?

This is a completely ridiculous situation. I have a GO 2535. I have it loaded with a North American Map. I need to put the European map on.  Given the size of the two maps, they both can't be on at the same time.

I need to back up the North American map but can't do this since TomTomHome won't work with the GO 2535.  I can't delete the NA map either.

What are our options?

Both maps do fit on it.

Is it possible to delete all the different languages and voices on the go 2535 to create more space?

Re: Does "TomTom HOME" program work on the “GO 2535 M LIVE” unit?

I don't think they are being truthful to us. The units were released before they could check all the bugs. They want us to believe every thing is fine.
The units are fine but they have issues
No Power on Password to protect our unit when stolen
System not recognized by computers
They expert us to play around with drivers knowing that if you get rid of critical drivers your system could drastically crash but it won't be their business as it would be you who deleted those files and the one telling me to delete the file had never been into the divice manager
On the forum a few units have been replaced to the customers satisfaction

But how about of who still have units not working to our satisfaction????
