Re: my tomtom vs tomtom home

MyTomTom is for devices running navcore 10 while Home is covering devices with navcore 9 and earlier.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the US models but it looks like a european GO 100x and then you would need MyTomTom to manage your device.

Yep, correct.........the 1X, 2X and Via models (and the Start25) all need the MyTomTom web interface, as Bogi says.

MyTomTom seems to be for the newer models... looks like TomTom rolled out their web-based system way too early.  They barely have basic functionality... not even able to get QuickGPS Fix or MapShare updates?!?  My 3 year old GO 920 had all that stuff in TomTom Home...

Be fair. the 1000 locks into the sats before I can get off my street. It's way quicker than the older satnavs. I thought the quickfix was a data service anyway.

The difference is simply really - TomTom Home works, MyTomTom doesn't!

Actually it's no faster than my old 920 was when the 920 had out of date GPSQuickFix data.  With updated GPSQuickFix, my 920 locked within a few seconds (like less than 5).  The 2535 takes easily 30-60 seconds to lock into a GPS, even if I turn it on at the same location it was turned off.

Maybe not the end of the world (as I still use the device), but the point is that it is a decreased level of service than what users of TomTom's 3+ year old products were used to.
