just bought a via live and cant get it to go live. have come online to get some help as customer services is closd over the wknd and its asking for an activation code for the years free trial. any idea where this can be found or what to do??????

Where is the message displayed that you have to activate the free year of Live Services?
On the new devices the Free 1 year of Live Services are automaticly activated when the device is powered on and has connected to the Live Servers.
Verify the date of subscription
When wanting to keep using the Live Services after the 1 year trial

No activation code is required for the Live Services, the year free Services is activated at the moment the device is powered on and has connected to the TomTom Servers.

Check that your subscription is still valid:
When the Live Services are still valid, then TomTom should be able to provide a solution. When the Live Services aren't valid anymore (when you have the device for year), then you can extend the subscription by tapping on any of the Live Services on the 'My Services' screen (currently its not yet possible to extend the subscription on the website for our devices).
Follow the instructions on the screen to extend the subscription. You'll receive 14 days of free services, this is done so users don't have to drive without Live Services untill the payment is received. A email will be send with the payment instructions.
To be able to use the subscription, your account information must be configured on the device.
This is required so when the device is connecting to the Live Servers, its able to know untill when the Services are valid. ![]()

Are you able to see the subscription date?
There's a chance that someone would have bought the device, the Live Services are activated at first time usage. Even when the device was returned. The Live Services subscription still count down even when the device is not being used.
The Go Live 1000 became available in September previous year, from the other devices i'm unaware when they were released. Its possible that the device at the shop is more than a year old before its being sold, in unused state the year of free services is activated when the device is powered on the first time.
Even then the previous owner didn't keep the device for a longer time, so its as good as new. In the case that the subscription would ran out, then TomTom needs a copy of your purchase receipt so they can verify that you've purchased the device recently and add a year free services to the device.![]()
