Via 220 fail to aquire satellite signal

VIA 220 Australia with current updates.

Unit had a clear view of the sky for an hour and didn't pick up any signal for satellites.

Did a hard reset (hold button for 20 seconds), turned on and within a minute it had satellites and worked properly.

Turned off the unit, turned back on and no satellite signal once again.

I then did a hard reset and it worked fine.

Anyone know what a fix can be beside returning it and asking for money back?

It is a worldwide issue now. Have a look at here: http://discussions.tomtom.com/t5/TomTom-GO-800-1000-2000-Via/No-GPS-signal/td-p/187009

Re: Via 220 fail to aquire satellite signal

Fair call but I am at a loss as to why the unit will work perfectly after being hard reset.

I certainly am not going to be resetting the unit everytime I turn the **bleep** thing on. Look like a software issue to me. My other GPS is fine (old Tomtom One)

Re: Via 220 fail to aquire satellite signal

First I was in a doubt about the software issue, as it happened all around, but now tend to say it looks like very much one. I don't think many things will happen today, as it is weekend, but sure they will pick the subject up tomorrow, and most probably another software update will be rolled out, but usually it takes some time.

Re: Via 220 fail to aquire satellite signal

Will be interesting to see. I didn't want to buy a new unit but had to after my One got a broken screen after I dropped it :smileysad:

New Home software via the web browsers was wierd but thought it was strange after it would not pick anything up. Lets just hope Tomtom are on it with a fix ASAP

Re: Via 220 fail to aquire satellite signal

Hi all, I followed the instructions, but MyTomTom says that I have the lastest software did all but my VIA 220 is still not getting signal right now. Still the same warning "wainting for a valid GPS signal".  I am not sure if the connection is proper because the home site for MyTomTom keeps stating "connecting" on the device. Nothing happens and it detects it as Start 20.

Re: Via 220 fail to aquire satellite signal

I am in exactly the same situation as DiegoFC. VIA 220 constantly "waiting for a valid GPS signal". I tried a reset and it worked for a while but when it loses the signal the warning message returns and I have to do a reset to get it receiving the signal - although that doesn't always work. Getting to the stage of taking it back while it's still under warranty.
