Don't buy a VIA 1435 no one at TOMTOM knows how to work on them if you have a problem. I have been trying to download the free maps for over 9 hours. The GPS will load to 73 % then it locks up and will do nothing. I was advised to return it to the supplier, which was Best Buy. After returning a GO 2345 M Live to Best Buy and being told that I didn't know anything, I wouldn't recommend Best Buy either.

The info you listed for your tomtom ...is that the latest and greatest versions? I have the same VIA 1435... the computer tells me there is a update available but again around 70% download it fails and says to contact TomTom... I checked the download version and its the same map version I already have soo ???

Yes , for 1434 this is the latest version I'm using Firefox browser.

bought a new 1435 TM three weeks ago all fine except the calculation of travel times:
Far too optimistic (RDS receiver is on), during the day it takes twice, sometimes three times the time the device calculates.
The times only match during night time when no traffic at all and even then I have to speed...
Any idea if and how I can change the speed settings?

How did you manage to get updated application and 870 maps for your 1435?
I have 1405TM for over 1 week now and have tried every tip from the forums to get "Mytomtom"
The device connects OK and states that my "navigation device is up-to-date." even though I have
I am unable to activate the map code. Support on the phone was not much help but I do see that the rep
opened up a ticket.

Jag, you are not alone, i'm having same issue as you are with my 1535 TM. Map 860 (two updates old) yet mytomtom website says navigation device is up to date... the mytomtom application will display busy and tells me not to disconnect my device even after many hours sigh....however everytime i turn on my laptop the mytomtom application tells me new updates are available for my device to connect my device lmao... same problem as you with trying to enter map code tells me internal server error... only difference between us is that i have had my device for only 3 days... was calling cs on monday but after reading your post doesnt sound like it will do much good. This is the first gps i have ever purchased chose it over the garmin 1490 TM (because of voice comands) so unlike these others i do not have a long term love for any gps company... both units come with lifetime maps and traffic..until lifetime map updates i refused to buy a gps so the map updates not working is a real deal breaker for me.... mine needs to be updated because poi's have been a joke... Navigating to the local Walmart was a joke i was 1 block away and it wanted me get on the freeway travel south for 5 miles get off then get back on traveling north for 5 miles... it thought the Walmart was located on the northbound offramp.... the next day i was in an area unfamilar so i asked it to show me local resturant poi's and i navigated to two of them to find out they were both corporate offices lmao...
i have been down the road with companies promising future functionality and it never materialized (palm pre plus) so i will not fall for that again... tomtom has 2 weeks to sort this out if not it will be returned to bestbuy and i will purchase the garmin.
i read in another post that tech support told him that the reason he couldnt get any new maps was because he didnt have the latest map installed can you believe that lmao.

I just followed the instructions in the box , that's all.
Everything was smooth and painless . I have win 7 , 64 bit and Firefox 4.0 browser.
No complains for now . Waiting for software improvement of "MyTomtom" .

I still in the same situation as before.
I spent about 45 minutes on the phone earlier this evening with a very helpful support rep: Ian. I sent him a copy of my sales receipt which he verified as 1405tm and additionally, he stated that he manually put the latest map in my account and could see that it was there.
Even after multiple attempts on two separate computers, the MYtomtom application shows: device is up-to-date. No new items appear or are downloaded.
Hopefully they will get this resolved soon as the VIA is a nice unit and a good upgrade to my GO510.
