Re: Upgrading Maps Deletes Favourites

App 8.x and earlier loses favorites when updating maps.  If you backup mapsettings.cfg before the update, then restore it after the update, it will return your favorites.

App 9.x and later automatically preserves favorites during map updates.

Re: Upgrading Maps Deletes Favourites

Re: Upgrading Maps Deletes Favourites

My last 2 two maps, I tried to restore  'MapSettings.cfg' file from the back up file to my new map that does not work, the file is blank. Is there another 'MapSetting.cfg' file in another location? Can any one help?

Re: Upgrading Maps Deletes Favourites

Where do I find that file to restore my favorites?  Does this include all personalized settings?

I've got a 720 and this perpectual and undocumented problem really sucks.  This is such an easy fix for TT Home since the backup is integrated. And we shouldn't need to come to a forum for this!  Just give use the ability to restore it via selecting it in a restore.  I just updated my maps, tried a restore becaue the wording implies I can get my settings back after upgrading a map. Guess what?  it wiped out the new map. Duh!

Thank you!

Re: Upgrading Maps Deletes Favourites

It is appauling. My GO 720 does this every time with Home. Favourites is a key feature on these things. Especially when you consider TomTom tie your hands somewhat with Home and on top of that, you constantly get messages reminding you to back up your device and update your map.

Just because there's a "solution" where you can copy accross this info doesn't make it right. It's not obvious and you have to log onto a forum to get these details. Not everyone does the forum thing and they shouldn't have to.

In short TomTom, pull your fingers out.
