I have purchased new Go 1000. Everytime I go to Getstarted it attempts to download Go 2405 info using my usual Local Internet connection. At the same time it attempts to open a 2nd connection to download 1000 info andconstantly tells me I do not have the Go1000 connected !! What is going on....help please

Try clearing the cache in the desktop MyTomTom icon, reset the unit by holding the power button about 10 seconds till the drum roll sound, connect to the computer and then turn the unit on. See if that helps.

I have finally cleared the cache. This allowed Tomtom to download Go1000 info to my computer but the Computer will not recognise the device....."My TomTom" now tells me all up to date but there is no connection made to the device ??? Device definetly not updated as no screen message on device and measurements should now be in metric for Aus. ??

hi when you say computer will not recognize device do you mean its not showing as a drive like previous units if so that is correct .the unit will show under network.one of the problems tomtom are trying to address is notification of what your downloading ,at the moment there is no way of knowing if or what youve downloaded.to change units to metric go to main screen =settings=set units ,you can then change kilometers to miles

after I have connected device(and checked USB Port) the device says trying to connect and the comp says please connect your device ? regardless of this the device now appears to be working fine so I am assuming the update did go to the device ?!? Regarding the settings I have found and corrected that and played in all those settings and learnt more. Perhaps !!........I wont shove it up the salesmans nose after all.....just perhaps. Many thanks for assistance.

hi glad to hear its working if it fails again let us know im sure we can suggest a few other places to shove it besides the nose
