TomTom Go Live 820

After having my TomTom XL Live IQR stolen last week, I purchased a new Go Live 820 today.

Anyway, not too impressed that I have to use MyTomTom in place of TomTom Home, as I cannot see what is going on.

1: I connected my Go Live 820 to my pc at 6pm to download Latest Map Guarantee and at 7:40pm, it is still downloading, as far as I can tell.  Computer icon is displayed on TomTom screen and shows connected on MyTomTom but I cannot tell how much is remaining to be downloaded. I thought technology was supposed to get faster, not slower.

2: I am unable to see the "Mass Storage Device" in my computers directory so I can do my own manual backup, or re insert my own POI's I created on my XL device, like I could on my old XL Live. The directory address was F://TomTom.

Does anyone know how to see the Go Live 820 in your computers directory?

Thank you :smileyhappy:

Re: TomTom Go Live 820

1 -  sorry can't help

2 -  Im afraid you can not view it as a mass storage device.

You can backup POI's install my tomtom create an account, right click on tomtom icon in tray and click on add community content, you should see your POI's that you can download.

Hope it helps a bit

Re: TomTom Go Live 820

Thanks for your info.

However, as stated. I created my own POI's on my old XL in which I copied to my pc for backup. This backup is stored on my pc's hard drive. Therefore, they cannot be downloaded from the community and I need to know how I can copy them to my new Go Live 820

Re: TomTom Go Live 820

Thanks muffin, that helped :smileyhappy:

Would you be able to answer my number 1: issue on why, even though I have been trying to download my Map Guarantee Update, nothing seems to be happening?

Does this MyTomTom crap prefer Explorer or Firefox and I don't seem to be getting any joy using either and I've tried both on my pc and laptop.

PC running Windows XP and my Laptop running Vista

Regards,
