If I don't allow Tom Tom to use the info on my Tom Tom, they will take away the live services,  I bought the TomTom for the live services. Think this is a total miss use of power, give us what we want so we can use it sell it to third party's etc or else.

I think the mobile network provider has to keep the data by law (just have a look at the new proposal about e-mails and such in the UK). If you don't allow them to store it, they lock you out of the network. If you have no data enabled, can't use the services.

the new proposals have not come into law,
the EU is already looking into Google etc about the info kept on account holders, I have heard nothing about it mandatory to keep info on how long it takes a person to get from A to B but have heard of a third party to TomTom supplying the info to a police fore so they could work out the best place to put speed traps etc (not in the uk).

please can you state the law on the info tomtom takes?
also if you have payed for a service before accepting the proviso is this not miss selling if you take it away?

Hi Janet,

this request for sharing of information has been implemented due to a change in EU law. EU law now requests that a user gets asked whether he'd like to share personal data or not. The problem is that personal data covers quite a lot of data. Even the SIM-ID is recognized as personal data.
So if you decline sending personal data you also decline sending your device's SIM-ID. Without a SIM-ID though a connection via the GSM network isn't possible. So if you decline sharing personal data the SIM card gets disabled and therefore you aren't able to receive the LIVE services any more.
