Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

An official complaint to ACCC http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815215 may help.

You have the right to a refund,  The goods must be fit for their purpose -they should do what they are supposed to do and be suitable for any purpose that you might have made known to the supplier.

Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

It is such a sad situation when an unsatisfactory or faulty product is introduced onto the market and the "global company" does not recall it or at least give the buyers the option of exchange upgrade.  Worse still if they do not admit that there is a fault.  By the number of posts and the general internet search engine feedback  the Go 1050 has a problem.  TomTom, if you are monitoring this forum, learn a lesson.  Further,    If mine acts up after it is returned from Warranty Repair, I will create merry hell with Consumer Affairs, the ACCC, the NRMA motorists organisation will hear about it and I will hit every "Consumer Voice" column in every Australian newspaper.

Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

hi, from what i just found out from my 1535tm ( yes..i know mine is not like your model ) buttt..from what i just found out..after messing with the buttons..finding the battery icon..there is a setting where you can set your unit ( at least mine is like this )..to either shut down when you unplug the external power supply ?..or stay on. as i said..i do not know if your model has this feature ?..but it's worth a shot..find the battery icon in the menu..set your unit so it will not shut down when you unplug the external power..such as from your car or truck.. if i'm right..and your model has the same features as mine ?..then yours should not shut down after you remove the external power cord from your car or truck.

Thanks for your input ghost_rider.

I was aware of that feature and mentioned in my original post that it had been set not to turn off the GPS when power was removed.

Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

After reading all these post I got out my 1050 which is 12 months and 6 days old and turned it on. It worked for about two minutes then turned off after pluging into power it has the charged green light on but no longer starts up. I hope they address  this before they totally stuff there reputation.

Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

 Greetings from New Zealand!

Unfortunately I am in the same boat!! I've bought GO LIve1000 in June 2011 and just after 3 months it started switching itself  off in the midle of the road while connected to power supply! Sent it to Sydney for repare, they came back to me and suggested to replace this model to a newer one Go 1050 world as the old one has battery problems! I accepted the offer, but guess for how long I was able to use a brand new device?!  Just after 2 and a half months it turned itself off showing me a red cross in the midle of the screen and that's it! Sent it again to Sydney and have been waiting for one month for my device -left a few messages to customer service representatives, ask to talk to Manager - no one came back to me yet!

The most annoying part is - they say that "the 12 month warranty is taken from the date on your retailers receipt" - but I have already waiting for nearly 2 months for my TOMTOM back from service !!! out of 12?!

"Great Company and Great Service" - really didn't expect that from TOmTOM

Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

Greetings from over the ditch garilenic.

I feel your pain. My 1050 lasted 3 days, dying with battery problems in a busy part of Melbourne that I had never visited before :smileysad:

When I finally got home I took it back to where I had purchased it and as soon as I told them what had happened they offered to either refund my money or upgrade it to a GO Live 2050 at a heavily discounted price.

While the 2050 has major camera updating problems and functions that still don't work (documented by many users) the functions that do work work well.

Hopefully one day TomTom will get their act together and deliver on their promises and make a good GPS a great GPS.

Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

I just insisted that I didn't want another dodgy GO1050 so after a bit of arguing they gave me a GO2050. Whilst it still hasn't got the usability it should it's working for now. I'm not hopimg for Tom Tom to improve, once this one is out of warranty if it breaksdown again I'm just going to trash it and buy a Garmin - what I should have done in teh first place. Tom Tom have lost me for life - they are just a crap company.

Re: TOMTOM GO 1050 **bleep**

[ Edited ]

Just received my second replacement (after a 5 week wait) and see that they have sent me a GO 2050 to replace the 1050.

Warranty left on this unit is now down to 3 months, maybe it will last that long. As this is my 3rd unit in 6 months I have not been able to register it to upgrade the current map ( Installed map date is 4/2011).
