TOM TOM START 25 UNABLE TO CONNECT TO PC

Dear All

 

Could you share any ideas as my tom tom start 25 purchased just half a year ago cannot connect to PC, it never did but I wasn't bothered too much as haven't had to update it till now when there is mandatory update as its loosing GPS

 

Tried on 3 different PC's none of them can find this device , TomTom home 2 does not show any devices connected , device itself displays the information : for advice how to connect to PC visit tomtom.com/started 

 

I've reset it hundred of times - no luck

To connect the TomTom Start you have to download the MyTomTom app. This will run in a webbrowser and find your TomTom. Different from earlier versions of TomTom, the Start does not show up as a external drive but as a network interface.

 

I have a Start since last weekend, and it took some getting used to. I also notice that you can't connect at the same time with WiFi,another issue which I need to bring up.

The TomTom web site shows 2 manuals for the "Start". The one shown at THIS LINK appears to be the right one for recent Start 25s - it refers to MyTomTom (see page 8) and not TomTom Home as appears in the other manual.

 

I use MyTomTom on a wireless connected laptop (running Windows Vista) and have had no problems at all. I've downloaded full map updates (2.8Gb) twice now and everything was fine and not as slow as many people seem to find.

 

Don't know what to suggest as I'm not a software / hardware "guru" but it looks like a PC issue not TomTom hardware/software.

thank youfor your answer, what also helps i found out the battery must be charged at max.

Hi Knarepoere.

 

Did you manage to get your Start 25 connected through MyTomTom?

 

It's strange that your Start 25 needs to be fully charged to connect through a PC. It should take power from the PC USB port (the Start 25 battery state indicator is replaced by a PC icon when connected) so the state of the battery shouldn't matter.
