Yeah and what really annoying is that with the old version of TOMTOM home you could send google map locations from Google maps direct to your TOMTOM device via TOMTOM Home... which was incredibley useful.. back to nokia ovi i think as at least you can set routes and favourates from your pc and sync them to your TOMTOM device thanks a bunch for ruining the user experience TOMTOM.!!

has anybody heard when you can connect start25  to  tomtom home instead of my tomtom nobody seems to have any idea

You can't and won't be able to for that model or any model running on Navcore 10X.

im having this problem and are on the verge of returning it back to argos, the start 20 wont let me download points of interest to laptop, says connected then when you open the other programme up wont recogize the device

The Tomtom Start 20 is a crippled product, when are you going to sort it out and give it the functionallity of previous products? This procrastination can only damage TomToms previously fine record, why the delay?

Seems I am not alone!

I purchased a TomTom Start 20 today but cannot get started with MyTomTom. After reading this forum it would appear that TomTom has manufactured an item that is not compatible with TomTom software.

Could someone from TomTom advise me if I should return my TomTom Start 20 and purchase a satellite navigation system that is compatible with MyTomTom or purchase a device from another vendor?

I bought a TomTom Start 20 three days ago. Works fine. But when I go on the web to find out about connecting the thing to TomTom Central (so to speak) confusion reigns. The Start 20 reference guide says go to .../getstarted and download MyTomTom, yet the /getstarted page says "MyTomTom is currently available for the following devices: GO 1000 Series, Via Series, Sony XNV Navigation Module"

The Start 20 isn't mentioned.

Underneath the blue Download now button it says: "Different device? Download TomTom HOME2"

So when dhn early in this thread says "The Start 20 requires MyTomTom...." I just don't know any more.

Then there's the backup question. In the Start 20 reference guide on page41 it says, under Reset factory settings: "If you want to keep your personal information and settings, you should perform a full backup of your Start before you reset the device" Note that the reference guide does not then explain how to do this, and the web site says the thing cannot be backed up anyway.

So either TomTom need to fire the documentation department or they need to get their act together and sort it out with the software! What's so hard about getting a gizmo to connect to the internet and exchanging data? Psion were doing that kind of thing yonks ago. Maybe the Dutch need some British engineers to show them how to write code.

I have just bought the TTStart20 and the awful truth of this disfunctional device has now dawned on me. What a backward step this has been for me and for any user.

Trust me, the Start20 requires the MyTomTom app from tomtom.com/getstarted. Not Home2.

I have a fav voice that I put on my last TT Start.

I assume that I can no longer asess my TTStart20 via Windoze Explorer or anything else and upload the voice which is no longer offred by TT?
