Re: New Problems with Go Live 1000, near constant rebooting.

Hello,

Today, I have the same problem with my TT GO LIVE 1000 bought 3 months ago after the update this morning. It always reboot .... So i read all forum to find how resol this problem. And I find it. It works for me.

These steps below will help you solve your problem.

 - In the menu of your TomTom GO 1000 press 'Settings'

 - Press 'Reset Defaults'.

Please keep in mind that this will delete personal information stored in the camera as Favorites. - When the unit displays the screen of choice of languages, please so now the power button of the device down until you hear the sound of tom-tom.

 - Now, please reconfigure your device with your personal information, then connect the TomTom GO 1000 to your computer.

MyTomTom should now properly recognize the device and look for updates.

Then my TT work well now. I hope that solution could help.

Steff

Re: New Problems with Go Live 1000, near constant rebooting.

Steff - I'm sure Go 1000 owners will appreciate this. With the current firmware and latest version of MyTomTom, I know we can back up Favorites and community content to our PC's with many of the devices -- if this is possible with the 1000, thrn Favorites and the like don't have to be lost.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for my device (GO live 1000) which ran into troubles after updating it a couple of days ago. symptoms are rebooting , no connection with live services , switching of when disconnecting USB cable .

I followed your procedure but the behavior is still the same. anyway thanks for letting us know.

Hi,

The new application now by default switches the device off when power is lost whereas previously it was set it up to not switch off and you had to set it so it does switch off on power loss. This was in the description of the update.

If you do not want it to switch off when USB lead is disconnected use "Settings" > "Battery saving" > "next" > click "Device stays on when external power is lost"

Re rebooting my device was replaced by TomTom for this reason when it happened to me after an update

Hope this helps.

Well I've tried this several times but this setting has no effect. I also have the impression that it just cuts the power when disconnecting the USB cable. According to me this is not a normal shutdown. Previously when switching off the device , a dedicated picture was shown and the device took some seconds to switch/off (shutdown). Now the device switches off instantenously. When restarting it is always with the tomtom sound.

If I swicth off manualy (when still connected to the USB cable) I see the dedicated pciture for 1-2 seconds and in this case the device restarts without the tomtom sound. So there seems to be a difference...

It is also not possible to start the device when it is not connected to the USB cable.

 Hi,

OK seems you have a more serious issue and I had a siilar issue with my second device.

I suggset you log a repair request with TomTom, do not let them fob you off, if necessary I found phone calls insitting on a repair got the correct response, They should send you a return pack to pack and send your device in.

You will need your proof of purchase for warrnty purposes.

That sounds like battery failure.   You will have to send back for repair.

Re: New Problems with Go Live 1000, near constant rebooting.

Although it seems to point to a battery failure, I think it is a software issue. All the misery started right after updating the application software to 10.501...

Today I connected my go live 1000  for several hours to my PC. Most of the time the system is rebooting after 5 minutes but sometimes I got the message that the battery was almost empty causing the system to stop the GPRS modem. In that case my system was not rebooting anymore (but was still not able to run without being connected to the USB cable). After the reset my battery status was full again... making that the system re-enabled the GPRS/GSM  which in turn resulted in a reboot after 5 minutes..... It seems that there is at least a problem with the battery management system.

I already contacted CS two days ago. They found it very strange because the latest update was ment to solve the issues I reported while on my system it was just the opposite.  The update triggered those issues ...(before the update it was working +- OK).

One of the technicians will look to it and if they can't solve it remotely I will have to send it to tomtom for a repair or replacement.  I'm afraid that the new system might have the same problems as long as they don't find the root cause ...

Anyway I find it a very poor design of tomtom that there is no possibility to step back to the previous version. An upgradable system should always take into account that something can go wrong during the update or that the new firmware contains some serious issues.
