Do you have the latest updates installed on the device?
If not already done, download and install the myTomTom Support Application from the following website: http://www.tomtom.com/getstarted
Connect the device to the computer, install all updates available. Always install the latest navigator version before installing other updates.
The latest navigator version fixes a leap year bug in the third party chip which prevented the device from receiving satellite signals.

thanks for your reply, i have downloaded the latest updated but no joy and have updated maps and still not working. this is the second unit from agus stores that hasnt worked, they will be getting this one back as well.

Try to perform a full reboot (no settings lost):
* Best performed when standing in a open area to get a faster lock on the satellites.
If this doesn't solve the issue, a factory reset may be necessary (all settings have to be re-configured):
