I have the 2535 and I must say, I did not realize how many features will not work in this country. Are there any plans on updating this?
If I had known features such as HD Traffic and Voice Recognition to name a couple were not available, I certainly would not have ordered a TomTom. Instead of a customer having to search forums and relying upon a vague disclaimer you should at least place a link to show what features work in what countries on your product pages. I hope I can get a refund if there are no plans to update this model to have all the features working in the USA.

The HD traffic comes with the 2535 LIVE model.
But, voice recognition should be part of every 2535 model. Check the following:
1. Make sure the icon says Turn OFF voice guidance
2. Voices-->Voice settings-->Check settings there that you prefer
3. Voices-->Change Voice-->Make sure you select a computer voice (Samantha, I think)
4. Voice Control-->Make sure the icon says DISABLE voice control.

When I enable the Voice recog. and it prompts me to say something
"Navigate to address"
it then does its confirmation beep and the pleasant female voice barks back:
"Voice search is not availble for this country, please select the address manually"
I may have to apologize about the HD Traffic. I could have sworn I read after purchasing it that HD Traffice was not available here...maybe it was a thread in the forum,,hmmm.

Well, there now seems to be something else seriously wrong with this thing.
I just took it outside to get a signal and try the voice command again. I repeated the above and it said the same reply. I then tried saying something different.."Drive to the nearest gas station"... it repeated it back to me and asked "is this correct" and I replied "Yes". It then started to state "Turn Left..." and the screen reverted back to the map BUT, there was no map -- it was completely black except for the menu buttons on the bottm. Then it showed the startup screen and rebooted to a Legal notice screen.
geeez......why does stuff like this happen to me...lol
and FYI, I updated it this afternoon...fresh out of the box....took a total of about 3 1/2 hours.

There's a pretty good chance you've got a defective device.
But one more thing to try. Tap "Navigate to address" and when choosing the city, make sure a state abbreviation is in the upper right corner. It it's a USA flag, tap it to choose a specific state. The software sometimes gets confused with the USA flag.

Thank you for all of the sugestions.
What I did last night was to perform a factory Reset and when I hooked up the unit to my account it redownloaded some stuff and I left it go overnight.
It appears to be working fine now. The voice command is working. I have not tried the HD Traffic yet.
Thanks again! If anything strange occurs again, I will post here and call customer service to inquire about my options. =)

There seems to be more issues with this device .. the Live services do not work. I click on "My Services" and the please wait a moment with the loading circle remains and it does this with any of the services I click on. I have tried this on three occassions when I have been out and about. Finally, I phoned customer service and they walked me through the normal reboot and reset procedure to no avail. Yes, I used my special code on the site when I first signed up and yes, I used the included cigarette lighter adapter with the green led since it has the antenna. =)
I received an RMA and it is on its way to Texas as I write. Wish me luck on the replacement.

I bought a Tomtom Go 2535TM WTE about two weeks ago. I tested all the features of the unit fresh out of the box, and everything seemed to be working properly until I installed the initial updates that took about 1 and 1/2 hour. Once all the updates are installed I was no longer able to use voice recognition feature to input an address. Contacted the customer support and was instructed to send the unit back for a replacement.
I received my replacement unit within 5 days which I must appreciate. However, I faced the same exact issue with the second unit too. Voice recognition feature was working just fine until the initial updates upon connecting to my tomtom home. Not sure what is going on, seems like the updated maps that are being installed with the initial update are not compatible with the voice recognition feature. Called customer service and was instructed to send the 2nd unit back for another replacement. I strongly suggest that a popular company like Tomtom should not have released a model prior to testing all the features and capabilities.
If anybody has any suggestion please feel free to share. I really like this unit especially the 5" glass screen, magnetic mount, and traffic updates.

i have the exact same problem after latest software update, returend the unit for another and happened agian. please post if theres a fix

Just received my marvelous 2535 yesterday, loaded the updates, took it out for test run prior to ditching my trusty Garmin Nuvi and everything worked -- except the voice recognition!! Same error as in above comments: voice recognition not available in this country. Spent about one hour on the phone eith tech support. Reset soft, then reset to factory and still nothing. Tech said it is probably set for another country even though I selected USA on setup! Bought from Amazon, RMA in process from TomTom. We will see. Perhaps I must stick with Nuvi?? Hope not, l like the TomTom, but it's gotta work!
