Hummm, not good. Did you asked if they would give you the next model up in exchange instead, or how about a voucher that would allow you to pick it up at a store ?

No, I didn't. I don't have high hopes for them doing that (or for the next model either, based upon reaction to the 2535 on these forums!) but I can call them back next week if nothing moves by then and give it a try. Thanks.

My battery is showing similar problems.

Your support lady must be unaware of the message which appears on my Tomtom namely "battery charging"

Hi JonF. The battery charges just fine -- in fact, the diagnostics screen shows it charged and the light changes from orange to green showing it's fully charged. It just doesn't work from the battery.

If it is fully charged (light changed from orange to green) and it shuts complete off at the moment you disconnect the power cord, there is nothing you can do to fix it. Get it replaced.

If you can. I'm still waiting for them to find a replacement to send me. "Out of stock" I'm told.

That is ashame. Battery issues have been on several TomTom's product lines for years. I hope someday they will come up with a model that would allow consumers to change batteries.
I am a 2505 myself, I guess I've been lucky so far.

Except in this case it's not a battery issue. The battery charges, holds a charge and the unit knows it's charged per the diagnostics screen. All indications are it's a bad firmware update which caused this problem. (i.e. The problem happened to many people at the same time, suddenly, right after applying an update.)

Here we go again! Got my replacement 2505 about 3 weeks ago, battery is already dead. There is certainly a problem with this Model. Support asked me to charge via my computer USB for 4 hours but the result is the same. This Model should be recalled and TOMTOM should be decent enough to handle it. I've asked about replacing it with another model but honestly, I'm a little shell shocked and don't know which way to go. I only know I paid $320 and have only had about 6 months of use. Even if they get me past a year with this model, and I'm off warranty, then where do I go from there ?
