tom tom stopped working after update, help please.

hi guys,

 

i have just brought a new car a 2010 renault coupe with tom tom sat nav bulit in. i have just removed the sd and put it into my laptop to update it,

 i installed the tom tom home and updated the maps the rest of the stuff it advised ( free updates anyway ) as its all automated i just followed the standard process,

after the updates was finsihed it was told to put the sd back in the car and start the sat nav  let it boot up then shut it down and then remove the sd card and put it back in the lappy,

i have done all this and now when i put the sd card back in my car the sat nav will not work at all. all i get is the opening screen saying renault tom tom and it stays like that for about 30 seconds and then goes to a screen showing an hour glass and a bar across the bottom as if its installing something, the sat nav just keeps repeating this process though nothing ever changes,

 i have tried restoring the sd card from the back up but again i just get the same result as before.

 

does anyone know whats happened or even better does anyone know how i can fix this issue,

i have only had the car a few days and this is the first tom tom system i have ever owned and i must say i think it will be the last,

hi.

 

i will do the reset but am unsure on a couple of things my tomtom is built into the car so can i just reset the sd card some how, the second how do i know what tomtom i have.

 

sorry if these are stupid questions.

I would say you have a Carminat, but don't know if it is normal or LIVE.

perhaps check if any errors were encountered during the update or restore.  This is tracked in the log.txt, located in <user directory>\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\<your default profile>
