If you connect your device to MyTomTom you should get a speed cam removal for France if it hasn't already happened.

Re: TomTom speed cameras in France

Hi Brian,

You need to do two things:

1. Disable the alerts. See www.tomtom.com/15793

2. Update the French speed cameras which copies an empty file for French speed cameras to your device. See www.tomtom.com/5536

Greetings,

Jürgen

Re: TomTom speed cameras in France

Well thanks very much Jürgen (staff).  The ingenious solution is to remove all the information and replace it with an empty file. "Chapeau!" as we say in France or "Hats off" if you prefer English

I am not  able

  1. to be sure that I am now in accordance with the local law and not at risk of 6 penalty points and a huge fine
  2. to renew my subscription to + Tomtom live because you are all so laid back about things that I do not know whether it is worth my while and how much it costs
  3. to solve the problem of my Carmina card not being recognised by my computer and myTomtom.

I suggested earlier that it was not beyond your technical ability to fix the problem for all users in France (maybe I am wrong about that, but if I am why not just tell me and all the others?). I simply wish to be in conformity .with French law and need your help with that. I also think you have a duty to help all your customers and understand from friends that other suppliers have done exactly that.

We are working hard on a new service to warn of "zones dangereuses" in France. Unfortunately we can not give any estimate on a timeframe at this point. We'll update this thread as soon as we have more information.

Regards,

Jürgen

I see no update yet...

Best wishes

Re: TomTom speed cameras in France

Hi Paxemator,

Of course I understand "chapeau". :smileyhappy:

If you have a Carminat LIVE, then you need to connect to TomTom HOME. MyTomTom will not see your SD card. That should also solve the issue with renewing a subscription.

To check whether the speed camera alerts are disabled you can run a demo route. You can try an A-B route in Orléons from Avenue do Paris 1 to Rue du Faubourg Saint-Jean 1. If you then demo the route and get no speed camera warning, the warnings have been disabled. There's also a video at the bottom of this FAQ: www/tomtom.com/15819.

Unfortunatelly I still haven't received any information on the new service. Once I get any new information I will update FAQ www.tomtom.com/5565 (English is www.tomtom.com/5560) and have the system send a notification to all subscribers of that FAQ. So I suggest that you subscribe to that FAQ (if you haven't already done so).

Regards,

Jürgen

Re: TomTom speed cameras in France

Hello,

I was thinking that my problems of some speed camera (not all)  which are still indicated, in particular one camera on my way from work to home :smileysad: where solved with the App release 11.31 but unfortunately it is not the case. The speed camera alarm is off, but some cameras are indicated, why, is it so much complicated to deactivate this function ?

The test way which is wrong is from Toulouse, Rte de Launaguet (anywhere) to Toulouse, rte d'Albi (anywhere), a speed camera is indicated 1.2 km before the arrival.

Yesterday i had 24 elements (Speed Camera Europe) to upload, i've uploaded and installed them (GPS uptodate) and today, the same way again 24 elements avalaible, i've uploaded and installed them but the problem is still present. Is it normal to have so much elements to update ?

Best regards,

Philippe.

Re: TomTom speed cameras in France

Well said paxetamor, come on TT lets see what you are made of!

Maybe if there was something in it for you like Tripadvisor, etc, we would see more energy. If something isn't done soon I shall not be a future customer of TT.

Re: TomTom speed cameras in France

Thanks Jürgen

I'm sorry:smileyembarrassed: if I offended by giving two language versions...

I'm very happy with your reply and will try again to put my SD card in Mytomtom but, as your colleagues who have tried to help me already know, this has not so far proved effective.

I hope whoever is working on the new service can speed up a bit (ho ho) and let you and us have a solution soon. Can I help you encourage them?  I want to help Tomtom (and Renault) avoid the embarrassment of supplying services which the French Government has recently decided to make illegal. That is my main reason for continuing but I also want to be sure I personally am protected.

as ever

peace

Re: TomTom speed cameras in France

Hi Paxetamor,

I just checked your email correspondence that you had with us. Since this didn't lead to a solution of your connectivity issue it's perhaps best to solve this over the phone. If you can update your MyTomTom profile with a phone number I'll ask someone from the French team to contact you.

Regards,

Jürgen
