Sound levels in Carminat

The inability to separately control the sound levels between the navigation and the radio/cd is a major problem with the Carminat and one that could possibly cause an accident. I have the Megane with the Bose acoustics system and when listening to say the CD at a reasonable level suddenly the navigator clips in, it is quite a shock. This is particularly so when the navigator has been silent for a long period of time - like on a motorway. I think that Renault and TomTom ought to take a serious look at this problem and the sooner the better.

This is strange. I have Carminat in my Kangoo van and the sound controls are separate - I have to adjust both radio/CD and Navigation volumes separately.

Re: Sound levels in Carminat

My Carminat is the 2010 model, with RDS-TMC, not a Live model. Navigation control is using a remote control unit, not a console control with joystick. Maybe yours is different.

When my radio and Carminat switch on as I switch on the ignition in the van, both of them have very low sound levels (they both return to very low sound levels whenever I switch off the ignition). The sound is controlled by the buttons on my steering wheel stalk and I have to increase or reduce the level on the radio, then increase or reduce the level on the Carminat DURING a navigation instruction.

Try adjusting your sound levels on the Carminat during a navigation instruction.

Re: Sound levels in Carminat

I adjust my volumes in my megane seperately. The phone, radio, cd, aux, and carminat all have different controllable volumes but are all controlled in the same way. In order to change them they have to be active. So if your tomtom is speaking, try lowering the volume at that moment. You can use your radio volume or the buttons on the stalk.
