It seems essential to reinstall the navcore software. After that, your GPS fix is lost. In a few minutes you'll get a new fix. And after driving a few 100 meters, you are on the correct location on the map again.
It is not necessary to install an older version of the navcore. You can use the current version.
You can install the navcore with TomTom Home.
If you have previously updated your navcore and the files are still on your PC, then select "Manage my device", click on the tab "Install items from computer". Select "Application", click on "add" and follow the instructions on your screen.
I don't know what to do if you don't have the navcore software on your PC, but maybe you can download it somewhere from TomTom Home.

How do you go about re-installing the navcore? I have a backup of the original one (atleast I took a backup before updating) but when I tried to restore this yesterday it made no difference to the navcore version.

OK now drove for about 5-10 minutes then it was correct.
Used files from Meeded, tried the latest quickfix before that dident work but maybe i dident wait long enough. because Meeded's files dident seem to do it either until I had drove around a for while. I wonder is it the driving or just time elapsed after uppdating that makes it cant see why driving around helps... shuold be enough to leave gps on for some time.. but then again im a total novice with Gps.
Thanks for all help nice forum..
